These Women Athletes Are Making Us Proud

From Hima Das to Vinesh Phogat, several sportswomen are making India proud with their international triumphs. In the last few weeks they have brought laurels to the country from across the world.
India’s star sprinter Hima Das on Saturday bagged gold medal for 200m event at the Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet, Czech Republic. Hima has clinched her third international gold medal in less than two weeks. The Assam runner last week had bagged gold in 200m race in Poland and also at the Kutno Athletics Meet.
Adding to India’s gold tally at the Yasar Dogu International Wrestling Meet, Istanbul is grappler Vinesh Phogat. Vinesh on Sunday bagged a gold medal in the 53kg category. This is Vinesh’s second gold medal in two weeks, followed by her victory in the 2019 Spain Grand Prix. She was the third woman from India to grab the gold medal in the competition. Seema and Manju Kumari also won gold for India in 50kg and 59 kg categories respectively.
Last week, Dutee Chand had scripted history by winning gold in woman’s 100m sprint at World University Games in Naples, Italy.
