The worst flood to have hit the state since 1924!

Kerala is battling the worst floods to have hit the state since 1924. The incessant downpour is wreaking a havoc and a red alert has been issued in the state. Around 245 people have lost their lives in this monsoon. More than 1.5 lakh people have been forced to vacate their homes and are staying at relief camps. Out of the total 14 districts, Pathanamthitta is the worst affected.

The non-stop downpour has disrupted air, water and road traffic. Kochi airport has closed its operations till August 26. The normal life has been completely disturbed with many areas are witnessing long power outages. Indian Navy and  National Disaster Response Force personnel are conducting rescue operations.

The state government has appealed for assistance and support from all quarters. Citizens can donate money to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
