After Sunil Chhetri, India Women Hockey Team Captain Rani Rampal Urges Fans To Support Them

After Sunil Chhetri, Indian Women Hockey team captain Rani Rampal urged her fans to rally behind her for the quarter-final World Cup clash

On June 2, 2018, Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri posted an emotional video on his Twitter account urging fans to come and watch them play and even criticise if they don’t deliver. People rallied behind their captain and filled the stadiums for the remaining matches of the tournament.

On August 1, 2018, Indian Women Hockey team captain Rani Rampal decided to do something similar since there’s not been much enthusiasm around the Women’s Hockey World Cup 2018.

India have reached the quarterfinals of the tournament after beating Italy. They will be facing Ireland in the quarter-finals in an attempt to reach the semi-finals for the first time after 43 years.

Requesting fans to watch and support the team, Rani said,

Women’s Hockey team has reached the World Cup Quarterfinals with the support of all the fans. We will face Ireland in the quarters on Thursday at 10:30 PM IST. So, please all of you watch the match and support us. We need your support and blessings. On the ground, each player will give their 100 percent, but you guys please give us your 100 percent support outside the ground. We all will make you feel proud in tomorrow’s game. Keep supporting India. Jai Hind!

The second-lowest ranked team of the tournament Ireland have beaten India in the previous two outings. The 16th ranked Ireland will be facing in-form India who are determined to do well and create history in the tournament.

Is this going to be a Chak de! India moment?
