French Tennis Player Loses Cool, Smashes Rackets On Court; Gets Booed

Paire went on to lose the game 6-3 3-6 6-2

Benoit Paire, the 29-year-old tennis player from France had a viral racket smashing episode after he lost the first round against Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis at the Citi Open in Washington on August 1.

After losing to Baghdatis, Paire, who was quite upset and annoyed, sat on the ground and smacked his racket, eventually breaking it. His meltdown didn’t end there as he walked to his bench and threw another racket on the ground.

Here’s the video:

Paire, however, went on to lose the game 6-3 3-6 6-2. After Baghdatis was announced as the winner, Paire once again threw his racket. Obviously, the spectators were not too happy.

Paire was booed for his ‘animated outburst’ on the court.

This is not the first time Paire has had a meltdown while playing.

In 2017, during the ATP World Tour in Paris, Paire, while playing against N. Mahut had another round of melodrama.

In 2013 Indian Wells tournament, Paire broke his racket too while playing against Gilles Simon.
