The thought of eating food with chopsticks can be quite intimidating. And if you are one of those who believes in being yourself and eating with hands, chomp chomp chomp, then perhaps you do need a crash course on How To Use Chopsticks. If you are out for an office lunch and your boss or client want to eat East Asian Cuisine, chances are all your idealism about eating with hands and licking your fingers might not count for much. To be honest, it’s not rocket science. And believe me, learning a new skill never hurt anyone.
Here’s your five-step guide to correctly use chopsticks.
Hold one of the sticks between your ring finger and base of your thumb and the middle finger. This chopstick has to remain stable at all times.
Now, hold the second one just like a pencil — between the index finger and the thumb.
Make sure chopsticks are not uneven. To make sure they are on the same level, tap the chopsticks on the table to make them even.
Now try to place your chopsticks around the food. Make sure chopsticks don’t make an X. Your food should fit in in the space created between the two chopsticks.
In case, you are not confident enough. Lift up the bowl or plate close to your mouth and eat to prevent a messy table.
