A perfect evening snack

Our search for delicious food this week, took us to Universal Doner, in Connaught Place. This tiny place is known for its Turkish kebabs along with other mouth-watering dishes of Turkish descent. We chose Fatayer (Arabic Pizza) which is also known as Turkish Pide. Its crust, or bread, has a centre-filling of mutton, chicken or veggies and is perfect for an evening snack.

Here’s what goes inside Turkish Pide or Fatayer:

Ingredients
Dough made of wholemeal flour, yeast, sugar, olive oil, salt
Spicy sauce
Spices
Salt
Cheese
Red, yellow and green bell pepper
Mushroom
Olives
Jalapenos
Onion
Herbs

How to make pide at home
3 cups all-purpose flour or wholemeal flour
1 teaspoon dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Method
1. Combine all the ingredients and make a dough
2. Grease with some oil, cover and let rest for 30 minutes
3. Now, cover it with a cloth and keep it for 1 hour (let rise until almost doubled)
