2.0: Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar film is all set for a HUGE music launch event in October. Read details

Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth's much-anticipated sci-fi thriller 2.0 is the costliest Indian film ever produced

Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar will share screen space in Shankar’s 2.0 that is slated to release on January 25 next year.  The film was supposed to release around Diwali this year, but the makers postponed the release citing post-production issues. The delay in the release implies that the sci-fi thriller will be promoted on a grand scale.

According to reports, the film will witness a mega audio launch event in October this year. There were speculations that the event would take place in Dubai but sources told The Indian Express that the event will take place in India for which the date is yet to be decided. The music of the film has been composed by Oscar winner A R Rahman.

With a budget of Rs 400 crore, 2.0 would be the costliest Indian film ever to have made. Out of the total budget, the makers have reportedly allocated around Rs 40 crore for marketing the film. The US promotions were kick-started with a gigantic hot air balloon in Los Angeles.

“The filmmakers will start organising promotional events from October. The makers are also planning different types of promotions state-wise down south, which will go on until December end. And from January first week, the makers will ramp up the promotional activities across India,” a source close to the producers told the website.

Recently, it was reported that Rajinikanth and the female lead Amy Jackson will shoot a special song that is touted to be one of the costliest dance numbers in the history of Indian cinema. The filming will be completed in 12 days.

2.0 is the sequel to 2010 blockbuster Enthiran that featured Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In this film, the veteran Tamil actor will reprise his dual roles of scientist Dr Vaseegaran and robot Chitti. Akshay Kumar essays the role of Dr Richard, the antagonist.
