RIP Alan Thicke: Hollywood celebs mourn the death of Growing Pains actor

Thicke was an acclaimed actor and songwriter and was recently seen in the Fuller House sequel of Netflix.

Alan Thicke, who was famous for his role of Jason Seaver on ABC’s Growing Pains, died at the age of 69. Alan is also the father of Canadian singer/songwriter Robin Thicke, Brennan and Carter, with whom he was playing hockey before he suffered a heart attack.

Thicke was an acclaimed actor and songwriter and was recently seen in the Fuller House sequel of Netflix. Alan was a huge fan of the show. Earlier on Tuesday, in what would be the actor’s last tweet, Thicke had said, “Season 2 Fuller House looking good. I even like the ones I’m not in!”

Moments before his death, Thicke was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter Thicke when he suffered a heart attack. According to Robin Thicke, he was rushed to the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Robin Thicke, the Grammy award nominated singer was taken aback by his father’s sudden demise. “I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him,” Thicke said. “The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure,” he added. Robin says he drew inspiration from Alan to develop his singing career.

Thicke has appeared in several famous shows including Married with Children, The Outer Limits and Murder She Wrote. His sudden passing took everyone by surprise and social media was immediately grieved across social media.

Much like his family, many Hollywood celebrities also mourned the death of the great actor. John Legend said, “RIP Alan Thicke. I grew up watching him and got to know him through Robin. He was always so kind to me. So sad to hear about his passing.”

“America loved Alan Thicke. I’m so sad he’s gone. Sending so much love to his family,” said famous talk show host Elen Degeneres.

Candace Cameron Bure on Fuller House shared a picture of herself with Thicke in an Instagram post and wrote, “I’m sad beyond words that Alan Thicke has passed away. I’ve known you since I was 8 years old and so glad I had the pleasure of working with you again so recently on Fuller House. You were a part of my family and hockey family. You will be greatly missed. My heart hurts.”
