The cast of the sequel to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them titled The Crimes of Grindelwald has finally been introduced to the world, and it does not disappoint. The Internet has been swooning over Jude Law, who essays the role of ‘young Dumbledore’. The teaser poster, shows the cast sitting with varying expressions flitting across their faces. But it is Law with his pointed beard and quizzical brow that has created the maximum buzz.
The Crimes of Grindelwald will focus on the adventures of Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne), his friendship with Professor Dumbledore and the havoc created by the dark wizard Grindelwald.

With the film’s release due on November 16, 2018. Here’s looking at the characters and what to expect from them:
The New Joinees
Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore:
The poster showed a bearded Jude Law looking dapper, as he leans back with his arms rather awkwardly crossed. Is he hiding something? Reports suggest The Crimes of Grindelwald might divulge in details of his relationship with Grindelwald. Since neither of them look like teens anymore, this is obviously much after their duel led to Dumbledore’s sister Ariana’s death.

Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelward:
Considering the fact that Depp was merely onscreen for five seconds in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, it won’t be unfair to consider him a new cast member. The poster of sequel hinted Grindelwald has already gotten his hands on the legendary Elder Wand. Wait, does this mean Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s fabled ‘last’ duel is happening in this film?

We wish Depp was not playing Grindelwald. For a series that has built its name on magic and goodwill, a tainted name like Depp’s doesn’t belong here. #AmberHeard

Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange:
In the first movie, we see just a fleeting glimpse of Leta Lestrange, as Newt sighs over her photograph. During her stay at Hogwarts, Leta and Newt got pretty close, but she ended up marrying his brother Theseus Scamander (played by Callum Turner). How will Newt deal with his ex showing up? We expect fireworks.
Claudia Kim as Maledictus (maybe?):
Claudia Kim’s character has as yet not been officially named, but as per reports she’s playing Maledictus, a carrier of a blood curse that destines her ultimately to transform into a beast.
The Returning Cast:
Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander:
Redmayne will reprise his role as the cutesy magic zoologist. The movie is likely to chronicle Scamander’s friendship with Dumbledore – who is probably here to help out the former with his ‘Grindelwald problem’.

Ezra Miller as Credence:
Miller returns as the American wizard who despite suffering from Obscurus (parasitical force developed due to repression of magic), lives into adulthood. It was his actions that had threatened the safety of New York City as he tried to fight abuse from his adoptive parent.
Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein:
Tina, a half-blood witch, who works for the Ministry of Magic’s MACUSA and helps Newt get Grindelwald arrested. With the wizard now out of prison, Goldstein would be in for a whole lot of problems.
Dan Fogler as ‘no-maj’ Jacob Kowalski:
It was Newt who introduced Kowalski to the wizarding world and he’s coming back for a second time. Presumably for comic relief again?
