Ivanka Trump praises Sushma Swaraj on Twitter, Indians and Americans join hands to troll her

Sushma Swaraj will address the UN General Assembly on September 23 in New York, wherein she is expected to raise the issue of cross-border terrorism once again

US President Donald Trump’s daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj ahead of the annual United Nations General Assembly session in New York. The duo discussed issues related to women empowerment and workforce development between the two countries.

“I have long respected India’s accomplished and charismatic Foreign Minister @SushmaSwaraj, and it was an honor to meet her today. #UNGA,” Ivanka tweeted in praise of Swaraj.

“We had a great discussion on women’s entrepreneurship, the upcoming #GES2017 and workforce development in the US and India. #UNGA,” she added further.

Ivanka Trump is set to lead the American delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit that is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from November 28 to 30. The three-day long conclave will be a gathering of investors, entrepreneurs and business leaders from across the globe.

Swaraj is leading an all-important delegation to the US and will be holding at least 20 bilateral and trilateral meetings with leaders from around the world attending the UNGA. She is scheduled to address the General Assembly on September 23.

However, Ivanka’s tweet sent social media into a frenzy as the users mocked the President’s daughter, questioning whether she had heard about the minister before. Just check out some tweets.

During her address to the UN General Assembly last year, Swaraj had hit out at Pakistan in the wake of the Uri terror attacks that left 18 soldiers dead. She advised Pakistan to abandon the dream of taking control of the Kashmir valley, insisting that the state of Jammu and Kashmir would continue to remain an integral part of India.

“Bahadur Ali is a terrorist in our custody, whose confession is a living proof of Pakistan’s complicity in cross-border terror. But when confronted with such evidence, Pakistan remains in denial,” Swaraj had said while referring to Bahadur Ali, the lone terrorist captured in the Uri attack last year.
