Snapchat has become the talk of the town ever since the former employee Anthony Pompliano spilt the beans about the company CEO Evan Spiegel saying that the app was not meant for ‘poor countries like India’. As the report went viral on the social media hashtags like #boycottSnapchat and #UninstallSnapchat started trending on the social media. The company further suffered a backlash as the app’s rating fell from five-star to one-star on the Apple Store, and before long people started uninstalling the app.
Latest to join the bandwagon of protestors against Snapchat is popular Pakistani-origin singer Adnan Sami who in a tweet revealed that he had uninstalled the app. “Just uninstalled #snapchat .. You guys @Snapchat can kiss our 1.2 billion ‘poor’ progressive bottoms!,” he wrote in a tweet.
However, his move against Snapchat did not go well with the Pakistani Twitterati who took to the micro-blogging site to troll him. However, the singer handled the trolling like a pro as he pointed out that his tweet was not about India but about Snapchat. “Dear Pak trolls, My tweet wasn’t bout U. It was about Snapchat. Stop trying 2 jump in & b relevant like a jilted lover! Get over it. Jai Hind!,” he wrote in another tweet responding to people trolling him.

It’s worth mentioning that the singer had applied for Indian citizen back in 2015. He was awarded Indian citizenship the same year and was presented a ‘certificate of naturalisation’ by MOS Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
