'Tis the season for song: Google joins the Christmas season with a doodle

Google is marking the beginning of the holiday season with a creative doodle and it'll make you sing!

Christmas season is right around the corner and the excitement is already mounting on. The preparations for the most ‘magical’ party of the year have begun and guess who has decided to join in? Google!

The tech giant, Google, is helping us to set the party mode by coming up with a creative doodle- ‘Tis the season for song.

Wintertime brings with it a number of traditions including that of carolling. Dating back thousands of years, the original carols were songs specific to certain regions in Europe and were shared by wandering minstrels on their travels between towns. However, it wasn’t until the early 1800s that the practice of carolling spread across England and western Europe. During this time, cities began hosting outdoor orchestras that played songs for people to sing along with as they walked by.

Today’s Doodle features a merry crew of carolers, with a certain triangle player waiting for his moment. December 23 marks the beginning of the holiday season and is followed by the Christmas and the New Year.
