Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ coming to India, here's all you need to know

Samsung Galaxy S8 is coming to India. Are you ready to unbox your galaxy?

Korean tech giant Samsung will soon be launching its flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India. Sharing their anticipation through a tweet, the company wrote on its official India handle: India, get ready to #UnboxYourPhone! Samsung #GalaxyS8 #GalaxyS8Plus, #IndiaLaunch.

However, the smartphone maker did not give out details about the launch date and pricing of the two devices. It’s worth mentioning that the two smartphones are up for pre-registrations on the Samsung India website.

Samsung Galaxy S8 India variant
Samsung had unveiled two variants of its flagship smartphones at the time of its launch in March this year. Samsung will unveil the Exynos 8995 octa-core processor variant version of the new Galaxy smartphones in India, instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor variant, which is available in selected markets including the US.

Also, the smartphones will be available in three colour variants according to the Samsung India website– Midnight black, Coral Blue and Maple Gold.

Samsung Galaxy S8 specifications
Both the smartphones– Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will sport infinity display with no bezels on the side. The two smartphones will run on Android 7.0 Nougat and feature a 12MP rear camera with dual pixel technology and an 8MP front camera with auto focus.

The two smartphones are protected by water and dust resistant IP68 technology and feature support for iris scanning technology along with face recognition and fingerprint recognition technology to keep your smartphone safe from the prying eyes.

While Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch super AMOLED display, Galaxy S8+ features a 6.2-inch super AMOLED display. Both the smartphones come with 4GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 256 GB via a microSD card. On the communication front, both Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ feature support for LTE Cat.16, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Glonass and USB Type-C.

In terms of battery, Galaxy S8 is powered by 3,000 mAh battery, while its big brother Galaxy S8+ comes with a 3,500 mAh battery. Both the smartphones feature fast charging capabilities with support for wireless charging.

Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will also feature Samsung’s voice-based virtual assistant Bixby. However, the company has already confirmed that the English version of Bixby will be missing from the devices at the global launch which is scheduled for April 21, 2017.

It’s worth noting that while Galaxy S8 costs $720 (Rs 46,300 approx) and Galaxy S8+ is priced at S8+ $ 850 (Rs 54,600 approx) in the US, we won’t know anything for sure about the pricing in India till the company officially unveils the two smartphones in India next week.
