HTC U11 launched today; check out price, specs and more

Taiwanese smartphone giant HTC on Tuesday launched HTC U11 smartphone with Edge Sense technology. The phone comes with a 12MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera that can be activated by squeezing the phone

Taiwanese smartphone giant HTC on Tuesday launched its flagship smartphone HTC U11 at a global launch event in Taipei. The phone features HTC’s Edge Sense technology that allows the users to squeeze the phone to give commands. You can not only click photos but also turn on the smartphone screen simply by ‘squeezing’ the phone. You can also open apps just by squeezing the phone. Unlike other touch-based smartphones, HTC Edge Sense technology works well with wet hands and even gloves.

HTC U11 sports a 5.5-inch quad-HD display that is protected by IP67 water and dust resistant technology. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip SoC and it comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage space. The phone is both compatible with Google and Amazon and features Alexa as one of the wake words.

As far as the camera is concerned, HTC U11 12MP ‘ultra-pixel’ camera with ultra-speed auto-focus and 5-axis optical image stabilisation and electric image stabilisation technology. It features a 16MP front camera with 150-degree wide-angle lens. The phone comes with 4K video recording and 24K audio recording capability with 360-degree audio recording capability.

HTC U11 also features a technology called ‘Acoustic Zoom’, which makes the audio sound louder as you zoom into a video.

The phone features a uni-body liquid-surface design and it comes with HTC Sense Companion that gives you personalised recommendations based on your usage. The smartphone is shipped with earbuds that feature active noise cancelling technology.

HTC U11 is priced at $749 (Rs 48,000 approx) and is available in four colour variants– Amazing Silver, Sapphire Blue, Brillant Black, Ice White and Solo Red. It will be available in stores globally in early June.
