E-retailer Amazon India, which had introduced its customer-to-customer market place ‘Local Finds’ in Bengaluru in January this year, has expanded the service to three other cities. The Local Finds service is now available in cities including Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad and it allows customers to buy and sell used products among each other in the same city. The product categories include books, mobiles, music, video games, laptops, jewellery, apparel and items of home decor among other things.
“With ‘Local Finds’, we aim to connect sellers and buyers, help them quickly list and discover each other’s products and transact our delivery, payments and customer service,” Director (New Initiatives) Amazon India, Mahendra Nerurkar said in a statement to the IANS.
As a part of the introductory offer, the company is offering 20 percent cash back (Rs 100 Amazon balance) on all orders above Rs 500 along with free home delivery. The offer will begin on August 7, 2017, and end on August 6, 2017. According to Amazon India, the cashback will be credited to the Amazon account in the form of gift cards by September 30, 2017.
As mentioned earlier, the service was piloted earlier this year with nearly 600 sells. And in a past couple of months, over 30,000 customers have subscribed to its services.
Meanwhile, the company has announced the dates for its ‘Amazon Great Indian Sale’. The e-commerce website will host the sale from August 9, 2017, to August 12, 2017, which coincides with the rival Flipkart’s ‘The Big Freedom Sale’ (Aug 9 – Aug 11). The company is offering up to 40 percent discount on mobiles and accessories, up to 50 percent off on electronic gadgets and up to 70 percent off on home appliances. The company is also giving 15 percent additional cash back on the purchases made via SBI debit and credit cards.
