Instagram has an ambitious plan. It wants to capture the social media space with jazzy features that offer everything that others are. It wants to become your one-pit-stop destination for sharing photos and photo galleries. And indeed the app has worked really hard in a past couple of months to offer features that are popular on other platforms. Snapchat particularly has been hurt badly by Instagram’s aggressive strategy, which over the time has proved to be the company’s winning formula.
After crushing Snapchat, Instagram is going after another popular social media platform– Pinterest. The popular photo-sharing app has introduced a new feature called ‘Collection’, which allows users to save posts into their private collections (sounds familiar?).
To save a save a post in your private collection, tap and hold the bookmark icon underneath any post and save it to a collection. “You can create and name a new collection when you save a post, or you can add it to one you’ve already created. You can also create a collection out of your existing saved posts,” Instagram wrote in a blog.

To create a new collection, all you have to do is tap the plus icon in the top right corner, give your collection a name and select the saved posts that you would like to add.
The best part about this feature is that your collection is that it is private and will be visible to you only. The update has been rolled on the Instagram version 10.16 of the app on both Android and iOS.

Earlier in December last year, the company had released a feature that allowed the users to bookmark their favourite posts. The new feature is an extension to the bookmarking feature allowing users to organise their saved posts into collections or galleries.
