5-time Grand Slam champion, Maria Sharapova was in for a pleasant surprise when a fan proposed her during a live match in Turkey. The 30-year-old Russian star was in Istanbul on November 26 to play against local player Cagla Buyukakcay as a part of her preparation for next season. As she was getting ready to serve, a voice echoed in the arena, asking ‘”Maria! Will you marry me?” And Maria’s hilarious reaction takes the cake away!

She halted for a while, nodded her head and made a gesture followed by saying “maybe” to the Turkish fan. Thanks to Maria’s epic reaction, the audience couldn’t stop cheering.

It’s not yet known if Maria met the fan after the game or not but she beat the Turkish player Buyukakcay by 2-0 after winning the first set 7-6 and the second set 6-0.
Maria Sharapova made a comeback on the tennis court earlier in the month of April after serving a suspension of 15 months. She was found guilty of using banned drug Meldonium. She was given a wildcard entry into the US Open where she performed phenomenally. She beat Simona Halep of Romania in the first round and knocked her out. She went on to win two more games but finally, lost to Latvia’s Anastasija Sevastova in the fourth round.
She claimed her first victory after her return in October and won the Tianjin Open.
