KXIP player Chris Gayle does 'Bhangra' after taking Andre Russell's wicket - Watch

Chris Gayle gears up for IPL 2018 in Punjabi style

Chris Gayle may have got a bid from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the end of IPL 2018 auction for his base price, Rs 2 crore, but it has not dimmed the spirit of Gayle on and off the field. The 38-year-old is set for his role in the new team as he took on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Andre Russell in the nets. Russell’s name was not in the auction as he was retained by KKR for Rs 7 crore.

Gayle posted two videos in which he trolled Russell for getting out to him in the nets. The caption of the videos read:

@ar12russell is back but not with a bang after running into the Universe Boss! He said he was gonna dance when hit me for a 6 but it was the other way around…this is one of the dismissal today with the Punjabi dance.

Gayle bowled an offspinner to Russell who played it back to him. Gayle completed an easy catch on the follow through and celebrated the wicket by doing a bhangra step and shouting ‘burrah’.

Gayle also said that “This Knight Riders player can’t play the Punjabi man”.

Gayle who is the highest run scorer and has the most centuries in the history of T20 cricket remained unsold for the first two rounds in IPL 2018 auction. He was brought back at the request of KXIP mentor Virender Sehwag. Everyone in the auction room clapped as Gayle has been attached to the league for a long time.
