Youths chant AFRIDI, AFRIDI during MS Dhoni's Kashmir visit — WATCH

MS Dhoni is still a big member of the blues and will soon join the team during the limited overs internationals

MS Dhoni, who also holds a key position in the Army, was recently seen interacting with budding Kashmiri cricketers. During his visit to the Kunzar area in Srinagar, the former Indian captain expressed hope to see Kashmiri players represent the country someday. Dhoni also said that he believes Indo-Pak cricket ties will resume soon.

While speaking to reporters about resuming cricketing ties, Dhoni said,

When we talk about cricket, in most people’s opinion it is a sport, but when it comes to India and Pakistan series, it is much more than that. It is also a diplomatic and political decision.

But that is not what courted controversy, instead, chants of ‘Afridi, Afridi’ did. Shahid Afridi is a popular former cricketer of Pakistan. It was hence surprising to see Indian nationals shouting a Pakistani cricketer’s name during MS Dhoni’s presence.

He further spoke on the Indo-Pak cricket and said,

Saying that it is just cricket is wrong, as it also has an impact on the Indian economy. So, coming to a conclusion on India-Pakistan series is a big decision which should be left to the government.
