After facing a humiliating defeat in the Ashes series by 4-0, the English team sought revenge by conquering the ODI series by 4-1. In the last England vs Australia ODI game in Perth, the English men pulled off a terrific victory against their arch-rivals despite a low score of 259 runs on the board. All-rounders Moeen Ali’s extraordinary fielding efforts caught the lime after he took a single-handed catch to dismiss Mitchell Marsh.
The incident happened during the last ball of the 25th over. Moeen Ali bowled a good length delivery to which Marsh opted to play straight. He wanted to go for a biggie and hence, attempted a lofted shot but the ball didn’t get enough height. It came directly towards Moeen and stuck between his thumb and index finger. It turned out to be a stunning catch which earned the English side an important wicket.

The Aussies lost their 4th wicket in the form of Mitch Marsh and were reduced to 113/4. Post Marsh’s dismissal, Glenn Maxwell (34) and Tim Paine (34) tried to anchor the inning and take the game closer to victory but Tom Curran hunted both of them down in the 37th and 49th over respectively. The tailender failed to do anything special from the bat while the Aussies were bundled up on 247 with 10 balls to spare. They fell short by 12 runs and lost the game, and the series, to England.
Now both the teams will be playing T20I tri-series against New Zealand. The first match is scheduled to be played on February 2 at the Manuka Oval in the capital city, Canberra. The series comprised of 7 games after which the final will be played on February 21 at the Eden Park, Auckland.
