You Need Rujuta Diwekar's Navratri Fasting Meal Plan To Survive This Festive Season

Eat well this Navratri

Navratri is here, and a whole lot of you will probably be fasting. For the rest of us, these nine days are full of fun, and ‘fast’ food. And even though we say we’re fasting, we usually end up eating plenty of unhealthy fried food.

So the author of five books and celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar has posted a full-fledged diet meal plan for Navratri on her Instagram account to help everybody who is fasting. The meal designed by Rujuta comprises only those ingredients, which can be consumed during the festival. Her meal includes sago or tapioca pearls (sabudana), kuttu or buckwheat, rajgira or amaranth, and more.

In the post shared on Instagram, she has explained the religious and nutritional significance of the fast. She wrote, “Nutritionally, it empowers the women with nutrients that make them not just physically stronger but helps bring about a balance at the neurotransmitter and hormonal level too.”

She further added, “It’s a “religious” method of teaching families that good physical health of the women and girls is of paramount importance to the well-being of communities and societies.”

She concluded by saying, “This is a rough food plan but please make alterations to it based on the region you come from and according to what your grandmom approves.”
