Naan to Gulab Jamun: Did you know these 5 dishes don't belong to India?

*Heartbreak*

The best thing about India and Indians is that we welcome everything with open arms. Whether it belongs to our country or not, it becomes an integral part of our culture. Here we list the lesser-known origins of five most loved dishes you thought were Indian. *Heartbreak*

1. Naan
There is nothing more satisfying than eating a Mughlai dish with Naan. Whether it is Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani or Shahi Paneer, Naan just adds to the taste. Be it butter, garlic or plain, the delicious bread makes even a tasteless meal special. But can you guess its origin? The bread is a gift from Persia that was originally made only in royal households.

2. Rajma
The king of pulses, Rajma has not just become a food but a way of life. People in North India swear by the dish. And most importantly, nobody can say no to Rajma. Unfortunately, the dish is not ours. But we will always be thankful to Mexico for this.

4. Jalebi
Jalebis tastes best when accompanied with chilled rabri but that still doesn’t make it Indian. Well, jalebis too belong to the Persians and there it is known as Zulabiya.
