This Ramzan, a Gurdwara in Dubai hosted Iftar for people from all religions

Muslims break their fast together inside the Gurudwara over water, dates and Indian dishes and offered prayers inside the premises

A Gurudwara in Dubai which happens to be the largest in the Gulf region hosted an Iftar party in the holy month of Ramazan where people from all religions and over 30 nationalities broke the fast together. This gesture by the Gurunanak Darbar Gurudwara has surely won many hearts. Muslims break their fast together inside the Gurudwara over water, dates and Indian dishes and offered prayers inside the premises.

As per Khaleej Times, Surender Singh Kandhari, chairman of Gurunanak Darbar said,“In a world that struggles with extremism, the best way to cut it is through creating friendships among different faiths and nationalities and making the difference ourselves. It is only through communication that we can overcome adversities”. Kandhari added that this was done to bring people together in the face of adversity where guests from Arab, Ethiopia, Mexico, America, Serbia among other were there.

Indian Consul General in Dubai Vipul said the gurudwara is doing a great service by getting people from different religions together. He also gave the example of Gurudwara as it received Guinness World Record by hosting breakfast for 101 nationalities in April. The gurudwara gives free meals to visitors every day.

Mitchell Peeters from Belgium, a regular visitor at the gurdwara, said as a Christian, having Iftar in a Sikh temple makes the experience in UAE more special.“It is a nice experience to enjoy happiness and friendliness of people around you from different faiths and nationalities. It is part of the charm of living in Dubai and adjusting to the customs of the local people,” said Peeters, who is UAE resident for last four years.
