Floor Test In Karnataka Tomorrow Arms Twitter With A Fresh Bank Of '113' Jokes

On Friday, the Supreme Court ordered a floor test in the Karnataka Assembly on Saturday at 4 pm

Days after the results of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections were declared, the drama just refuses to die down. Following a hung assembly, when state Governor Vajubhai Vala invited BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa to form a government in Karnataka, it triggered strong opposition from the Congress-JDS alliance.

On Friday, the Supreme Court ordered a floor test in the Karnataka Assembly on Saturday at 4 pm, for BJP’s Yeddyurappa— who was sworn-in as the Chief Minister on Thursday morning — to prove his majority in the state. Later on Friday, the Governor appointed senior BJP leader KG Bopaiah as the pro-tem speaker to look after the floor test in the Assembly.

The decision came after the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy filed an urgent petition with the Supreme Court to quash the Governor’s invite to Yeddyurappa. The SC’s directive caps the 15-day limit issued by the Governor for the floor test, thus limiting the possibility of poaching of MLAs.

Soon after the order, the poaching of MLA’s for BJP to rise to the magic number ‘112’ was anticipated. Now, with events as dramatic and full of twists as the Karnataka polls, Twitter was bound to replenish its bank of politically-aware humour.
