By securing eight position in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Bathinda’s Nikita Goyal is the only girl in the top 10 ranks of NEET, the results of which were announced on Friday. But success did not come easily to her, she did not use social media, smartphones for past two years and focus only on her studies.
“She kept away from social media. I even asked her many times that she should get an android phone but she refused,” said her father Suresh Kumar who is an agriculture development officer.

On achieving this feat, she said “I worked hard but wasn’t sure about the rank, though teachers told me that they were expecting me to get a single digit rank”.
Nikita’s mother Rani Devi who is a senior lecturer in Bathinda Polytechnic College said that she now plans to take her out for shopping as in last 2 years she has worked really hard and has made a lot of sacrifices and after her success in the exam, she surely deserves a treat.
As many as 11, 38,890 students took the exam which was conducted on May 7. Around 9,13,033 took the exam in English, whereas, 1,20,663 students gave the exam in Hindi. Out of those who sat for the exam, 6,11,539 students cleared it.
