Ever wondered what if telephone changes into a storyteller? but this is now a reality. To inculcate the habit of reading and listening among children, a campaign ‘Missed Call Do, Kahaani Suno’ has been initiated in the UP. With this scheme, every child will be able to hear a story just by giving a missed call on a particular number.
The project run by Pratham books was quite a success in the other states and on Wednesday it was initiated in UP as well. It will continue in UP till August 25.
Himanshu Giri, Pratham Books’ chief executive, “The stories can be heard for free in two languages. All you have to do is to give a missed call on 8033094244. And within two minutes, you will get a call back with a story. Up to 40 stories can listen from one mobile number and maximum of two stories per call”.
As per reports, they have a collection of over 2000 stories, these stories can either be dubbed or recorded. The project, in the past, has been successful in five other states. It is Radio Mirchi which recorded their stories in various Indian languages and actors such as Dia Mirza and Tushar Kapoor have given their voice for the project.
“We have got a good response during our earlier projects in other states. In April, we started with Rajasthan, in May went to Punjab, then June Himachal Pradesh, after that July we conducted the project in Haryana and now it’s time for Uttar Pradesh,” added the company CEO. Pratham Book was formed in 2004 as a not-for-profit children’ book publisher.
