One terrorist has been killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Haritar Tarzoo area in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. One other terrorist is still believed to be in hiding. The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of the terrorists.
This comes less than a week after a similar encounter took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora.
Security forces had laid an ambush at Haritar in Sopore following information about the movement of terrorists in the area. “In retaliatory firing, one militant was killed. Further details are awaited,” an official told PTI.
Recently, the Central government had informed the Rajya Sabha that a total of 146 terrorists have been killed in 97 incidents of encounter between in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016.
