Mumbai police have taken the note of the vehicles which were left behind and are offering free towing service

Owing to heavy rainfall in Mumbai, the life in the city has come to a standstill. The rain_in Mumbai is believed_to be_the_heaviest since July 26, 2005. The_continuous_downpour has crippled the_life in the_city, however, amid all this, the city which is known for its spirit is gearing up to get back to their daily routine after the rains.

Many religious places like mosques, gurdwaras and temples opened the doors to those stranded in the rains. They provided free food and accommodation_to the people who were stranded in the area. People from various religious groups stayed there.

Mumbai police are also offering help to tow vehicles they have taken the note of the vehicles which were left behind and are offering free towing service. _”If your car is out of fuel/stranded #Diall100 or 8454999999 or tweet us for free towing till the nearest fuel pump or garage #mumbairains,” the Mumbai Police tweeted.

As per the PTI, civic authorities are also cleaning roads which have become slushy. They are also getting ready to tackle a potential rush of patients at municipal hospitals. “Our first and foremost task is to clear traffic, People have left their cars on the roads, so removing them is our first priority,” Sudhir Naik, Deputy Municipal Commissioner.

Admin:- @I.N.D.I.A.N #MumbaiRains The #IndianNavy has put up food counters at Churchgate, Byculla, Parel, CST, Worli, Tardeo, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Mankhurd, Chembur, Malad and Ghatkopar on 30 August 2017 to provide support to Mumbaikars stranded away from their homes due to incessant rains and water logging in the city. #MumbaiRains The #IndianNavy has put up four rain shelters for Mumbaikars stranded away from their homes due to incessant rains and water logging in the city. One shelter is located at the Sailors' Institute 'Sagar' at Cooperage which is close to Churchgate station as well as Colaba and Nariman Point areas. The other three shelters are located at the naval base INS Trata at Worli, the naval base INS Hamla at Marve near Malad and the Material Organisation campus at Ghatkopar. The Contact numbers for the shelters are: Sagar, Cooperage – 22848518, INS Trata, Worli – 24933795, 24920492, INS Hamla, Marve – 29992600, 29992700 and Material Organisation Ghatkopar – 8422806253. These shelters will operate to provide a safe haven and basic food, water and first aid for Mumbaikars till the situation improves and waters recede. This is in addition to around 1,700 Defence Civilians, including ladies, being accommodated with the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.

There were many people who took refuge in the Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara in Dadar. The Gurudwara offered not only ‘langar’ but also provided shelter to about 750 people in its multiple prayer halls. Among many who took refuge, one was family was the Boleslawski family from Paris. After their fight got cancelled due to heavy downpour, the family was told to stay at the nearest Gurudwara. Before leaving for Aurangabad the family shared the experience and also wrote a thank you note for the Gurudwara.

The State Disaster Management Authority has said rain in Mumbai is likely to be lesser today. “The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall for today. However, it is likely to be lesser compared to yesterday,” an official in the State Disaster Management Authority said.
