Battle of statues: Shivaji Maharaj and Rajiv Gandhi's statues inaugurated by Modi and Rahul

Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed Jal Pujan for Chhatrapati Shivaji memorial in Mumbai. Rahul slammed PM Modi while the latter supported demonetisation.

Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi  inaugurated the memorial statue of Maratha warrior Shivaji Maharaj and the new NISM campus on December 24, the opposition party’s Vice President Rahul Gandhi inaugurated Rajiv Gandhi statue and Rajiv gandhi Engineering College in Nagrota, Himachal Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi fired questions on PM Modi over demonetisation while addressing a rally in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh by calling it as firebombing on India’s economy the latter spoke about its benefits.

Rahul Gandhi expressed his worries for cities like Shimla and Dharamshal blaming the Prime Minister to have broken the backbone of Himachal Pradesh. He further questioned PM Modi for not putting the list given by Swiss bank in the Parliament. He went on to slam PM by labelling demonetisation as a step against poor and middle class of India.


Rahul Gandhi sarcastically commented that India has 6% black money in cash and the rest in the form of Gold and real estate.

On the other hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi instilled the belief that demonetisation will prove to be a boon for country’s welfare. Targeting the corrupt citizens of India, PM warned not to underestimate the power of 125 citizens of the country. He further assured of not stopping the fight against corruption until he wins the battle of removing it.
