The victim identified as A. Sahasra had completed her SSC in March 2016 and topped in her school. Hailing from Nagarkurnool district, she joined the department of Agriculture in Ratnapuri Polytechnic College. The deceased in her suicide note wrote that she was going through hell in the hostel. “God, I am undergoing hell here. It is a waste to study in this college.”
The hostel, according to a report, lacked basic facilities, and students were forced to share their cots. Adding to this, there was no full time female warden at hostel. The parents and villagers staged a protest outside hostel demanding action against hostel authorities.
Blaming hostel authorities for their negligent attitude, Sahasra’s father Rajashekar,” Seniors have been harassing my daughter and there were no basic facilities for the girls. We took this to the notice of AO Bikshapathi, but it was of no use.”
