Mahesh Babu and AR Murugadoss launched the music album of the much-awaited espionage thriller, SPYder at a grand event in Chennai. The makers introduced Mahesh Babu to the Tamil speaking audience as the film marks his Kollywood debut.
At the event, Mahesh Babu and AR Murugadoss said they were confident that the film would prove to be a Blockbuster and revealed that the climax of the film has some never before seen action sequences. AR Murugadoss revealed that the budget of SPYder is around Rs 120 crore. He said,
“SPYder is a 120 crore film. Peter Hein will win a National award for the action choreography in the film. Mahesh will stun you in interval block. SPYder will be a blockbuster.”
The director further revealed that he had been planning to work with Mahesh Babu for quite some time, however, things hadn’t fallen in place till now.
“I planned to remake Ghajini and Thuppakki with Mahesh in Telugu but it didn’t work out. I will give all the credit to Mahesh for all his support. We had 80 days of night shoot. Never did he complain about anything. He was even ready to set aside more dates if needed. This film couldn’t have been made as a bilingual if not for the support of Mahesh.” said Murugadoss.
The final print of the film has been locked and the makers confirmed that the run time of SPYder is 145 minutes i.e. 2 hour and 25 minute. The movie is set against the backdrop of bio-terrorism and will see Mahesh Babu essay the role of a spy.
The pan India distribution rights of the film were sold for approximately Rs 103 crore, thereby being one of the highest ever for a Telugu film. SPYder is one of the most anticipated South Indian films of the year and is slated to hit the big screen on September 27. The movie will release in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
