Spyder vs Judwaa 2: Mahesh Babu's espionage thriller to clash with Varun Dhawan's comic caper in September. Who will win the battle?

Mahesh Babu’s much anticipated espionage thriller, Spyder finally has a release date. The AR Murugadoss directorial will hit the big screen in Tamil and Telugu on September 27 and in Hindi on September 29.

The Mahesh Babu film will clash with Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 at the Box Office. While the clash won’t have a lot of impact on Judwaa 2 in the Hindi belts, there would be substantial impact on biz of the film in Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad and Kerala where Mahesh Babu’s commands a terrific fan following.

After Baahubali 2, the trade is confident that even Spyder would also do reasonable business at the Box Office in the Hindi belts as Mahesh Babu is a known face and AR Murugadoss has created a goodwill after films like Ghajini and Holiday.

Spyder is said to be one of the costliest films made till date as the makers have mounted the film at a massive budget of Rs 120 crore. The film was initially slated to release during the Eid 2017 weekend alongside Salman Khan’s Tubelight, however the same got delayed due to extensive post production work.

The teaser trailer of Spyder was unveiled recently and the met with a positive response. The makers are in talks with Anil Thadani to distribute the film in Hindi, however the official confirmation is still awaited.

On the flip side, Judwaa 2 is the sequel to 1996 comic caper, Judwaa. The film directed by David Dhawan stars Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu in lead. Judwaa 2 went on floors in April this year and the makers shot for the film in one go. The shooting was wrapped up recently at Mauritius.
