No one else but Diya Mirza will play Manyata in Sanjay Dutt biopic, confirms Vidhu Vinod Chopra

It is now confirmed that Diya Mirza and not Manoj Bajpayee's wife Neha, will play the role of Manyata Dutt in Sanjay Dutt biopic

After much speculations, it is being confirmed that Diya Mirza will play the role of Manyata Dutt in Sanjay Dutt biopic. Earlier there were reports that Manoj Bajpayee’s wife Neha will platy te role of Dutt’s wife opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

The film went on floors on January 14 this year and Diya Mirza also shared a picture of her with the whole star-cast of the film from the sets. Though it was clear from the picture that the actress is a part of the biopic, but nothing was confirmed about her character.

And finally, the co-producer of the film Vidhu Vinod Chopra revealed the news and talked about her character and the film at length.

In an interview with IANS at the Jaipur Literature Festival, Chopra said:

Dia Mirza is doing the role of Manyata. It is a biopic and it is more than a biopic too because we expect people to learn something from it.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, the film also stars Sonam Kapoor, who will be seen playing the role of an actress to whom Sanjay Dutt was linked in 80s and 90s. Anushka Sharna is also a part of the film and will be seen playing a journalist.While the hunt is still on for an actress to play the role of Sanjay Dutt’s mother Nargis,  the role of his father Sunil Dutt will be portrayed by Paresh Rawal. Speaking about the release date of the film and its clash with Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai on December 22, Chopra said:

I don’t make pictures depending on the release date. I prefer to make one picture in four years than four pictures in one year.
