Why Anaarkali Of Aarah should be your weekend pick over Phillauri

Anaarkali Of Aarah celebrates the strength of a woman. Phillauri is a sweet, good-looking love story. Clearly, the Swara Bhaskar film creates more imapct

Anaarkali Of Aarah is a story of an erotic singer, the one who performs in public and is not ashamed of her singing prowess. She is strong, mean, rebellious and fully aware of her sexuality. The film has its protagonist as a heroine and no hero can compete with her.

Performances:
Swara Bhaskar shines again. Anaarkali is Swara and Swara is Anaarkali. She gets into the skin of the character like no other actress could have. Anaarkali is besharm from all societal standards but she loves being herself. Swara’s fiery performance both when she dances on the stage and when she griefs during struggle, is totally applaud worthy. Sanjay Mishra, in a negative character isn’t too strong. Probably because we are too much addicted to see him tickling our funny bones. Pankaj Tripathi doesn’t have a lot to do in the story though Swara compensates that for all.

Music:
Desi beats and double meaning lyrics, the songs in Anaarkali of Aarah gives a distinct taste. Yes, they live with you after the film as well. May be because Bollywood has stopped offering music which has a lot of folk beats and which gives out an essence of a particular region.

Story:
Extracting a story from Aarah, a small town in Bihar and making it relatable to the women all around is appreciable. The writer and director, Avinash Das does a good job in conveying what he wants to — no means no, no matter whether it’s your wife or a prostitute who’s saying it.

Intention:
Anaarkali Of Aarah has a small budget, that one can asses from the production quality of the film. But, again it’s a film which proves how we need only two things to make a good film:
A good story and
terrific performances
Anaarkali Of Aarah might seem a little preachy to some, but the intention of the film triumphs all. A woman should first be respected because she’s a woman and later because she’s your mother, daughter, sister or wife.

Verdict:
Celebrate the Anaarkali in every woman. Go and watch Anaarkali Of Aarah. Apne liye nahi, toh desh ke liye sahi…

Anushka Sharma

Phillauri is a film which brings together two worlds. One of pre-independence era and the other that we are living in. Whether it successfully does it is a question.

Performances:
The star among all the performers is Diljit Dosanjh. He’s both hot and serene at the same time, talented and the one who will not let his woman stay away from him. Anushka, though is fine at her part but Diljit’s subtleness in performance doesn’t let Anushka emerge as the star of the film. Suraj Sharma is fine too. He was better in Life Of Pi.

Music:
Music of the film is the best thing about Phillauri. From Sahiba, Shaguna Da to Dum Dum Lak Lak, the background music and the songs are mesmerizing enough to make you sit through the film.

Story:
It’s like one love story trying to build another love story. Phillauri has two loving stories. But, it takes a lot of time to establish its beauty. The climax of the film seems extremely stretched and it’s when you start losing your interest in the film.

Intention:
The intention of the film is nothing strong. Phillauri is just a nice, feel good film. It gives entertainment in its pure sense without any message.

Verdict:
If you want to watch a good looking film where characters look pretty on screen and you come out in a happy, jolly mood, go an watch Phillauri
