Sholay, DDLJ, PK and more: 8 brilliant scenes from your favourite films that never made it to the final cut

From Ek Tha Tiger, Kal Ho Naa Ho, PK to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, check out these eight deleted scenes from Bollywood movies

What you see on the silver screen is a final product which is a cropped and resized version of the shot film. Several scenes from Bollywood films don’t make it to the final cut. Recently and famously, Govinda’s part was not featured in the final cut from the Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer Jagga Jasoos.

Well, this is not the first time that a movie had to suffer such huge changes. Here, we made a list of eight scenes from popular Hindi films which could not make it to the final cut. From cult classics like Sholay, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge to contemporary releases Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and PK, take a look at deleted portions of your favourite movies:

Chak De India:

Featuring Shah Rukh Khan in the main lead, this particular scene from the film couldn’t make it to the final cut. The film was directed by Shimit Amin and Rob Miller. Chak De! India won a number of awards, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Sholay: 

This alternative climax scene from the film where Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar) killed Gabbar by pushing him on a conveniently placed nail, was omitted. It is said that the scene had to be edited as the makers found it to be very violent. The film featured Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri among others.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge:

Watching any scene from this popular film is always a delight for Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s fans. This introduction scene of Simran (Kajol) from the film got deleted. Check out the video

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara:

Do you remember who played the role of Farhan Akhtar’s father in the film? Naseeruddin Shah, right? But according to this deleted scene, Anupam Kher can be seen doing the same role. His part had to be deleted from the film.

PK:

Featuring Aamir Khan in the main lead, the film garnered a great response and turned out to be a blockbuster, however, you will be surprised to know that this comic scene of Aamir’s was omitted.

Student of the Year: 

In this deleted scene, Ronit Roy can be seen singing one of Rishi Kapoor’s song, however, the scene was not included in the film. The film marked the Bollywood debut of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra.

Kal Ho Naa Ho:  

This introductory scene from the film, which featured the late actress Zohra Sehgal, had been cut off from the film’s narrative. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta in the main lead.

Ek Tha Tiger:

This Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s romantic scene from the film was edited. In the video, the duo can be seen exchanging fake vows at a Chruch and we can also see that Salman was about to kiss the actress.
