Black Panther's M'Baku Is A Huge Baahubali Fan, And We're All Pleasantly Surprised

In his hometown (Tobago) Duke said he grew up with many Indian neighbours and thus watched many Bollywood films and became fascinated with stories.

SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali was a cultural phenomenon across India, and it is obviously not surprising to find out that it has fans in many countries across the globe. But the one place we probably didn’t expect to find a fan for the film was far out in the Caribbean islands. As it turns out, Winston Duke or the actor who played the role of M’Baku in Black Panther – is A HUGE fan of Rajamouli’s two-part film.

So much so that he shared Instagram stories about re-watching one of his ‘favourite’ films – Baahubali 1 and 2.

It’s difficult to imagine a man, who played the imposing leader of the Jabari tribe in the Ryan Coogler film, also get gooseflesh each time watching Amarendra/Mahendra Baahubali make their heroic entry in slow-motion.

In this interview, during the press tour for Black Panther – he professes to growing up with Bollywood. In his hometown (Tobago) Duke said he grew up with many Indian neighbours and therefore he says, he got stung by the bug of storytelling. Especially those epics with blatant hero-worship (like the Baahubali films).

And so it was only fitting that his first major starring role, has come in a film that comes across as a fable. The actor will be next seen in Avengers: Infinity War films.
