The Man Who Shares His Home With 400 Reptiles

67-year-old Philippe Gillet shares his home with a collection of more than 400 animals.

An animal enthusiast in France has taken his love for reptiles to another level.

67-year-old Philippe Gillet shares his home with a collection of more than 400 animals. The collection is scary enough to send people crying for help. Among the 400 animals include rattlesnakes, tarantulas, poisonous snakes and lizards.

It has taken Gillet over two decades to amass the unusual collection, Reuters reported.

“I think it’s unfair to treat these animals the way we do because we don’t understand them…We don’t understand them, we hate them, we think they’re horrible. But when we get to know them, you can call them over, tell them to come and eat something for example,”Gillet told Reuters.

According to Gillet, most of the animals in his collection are pets or those animals who have been abandoned or donated.

Gillet, who lives in western France, takes these animals to roadshows for awareness about reptiles. Aware of his affection towards the creatures, authorities have also given him permission to house reptiles.
