Get a load of this! Thailand now has a penis whitening obsession

A Thailand clinic has popularised the new trend of penis whitening because size might not matter, but apparently, colour definitely does.

There are no two ways about it. Skin-whitening procedures are quite popular, especially in Asian countries,  where being darker is often correlated with being poorer. Now, this trend seems to have reached new depths — inside your pants.

A Thailand clinic has popularised the new trend of penis whitening because size might not matter, but apparently, colour definitely does. Word of this new fad reached every corner of the world when the Lelux Hospital in Bangkok posted a picture of a client undergoing the procedure. The picture of the treatment, which uses laser techniques to break down melanin in the skin, went viral and received mixed responses from people worldwide.

As per the clinic, they brought in this bizarre skin treatment procedure upon people’s request. According to Popol Tansakul, the marketing manager of Lelux Hospital, when they introduced vagina whitening services four months ago, people started inquiring about a similar procedure for the male genitalia, a BBC report stated. The clinic receives an average number of 20-30 clients a month, who wish to have whiter genitals.

According to one of the clients who underwent the treatment, he got it done as he “wanted to feel more confident in my swimming briefs.” Is it just us or does all of this suddenly sound like a very bad Asian Sky Shop infomercial?

However, as per the country’s Public Health Ministry, you shouldn’t be too enthusiastic about this new craze. According to them, possible side-effects of the treatment could include inflammation, pain, scars and may even affect your reproductive health and sex life.

On the other hand, discontinuing the treatment may cause your privates to discolour in off-putting patches. Eesh! You don’t want that. Unless you have a partner who loves polka-dots on everything. If not, maybe shield your penis from melanin-breaking lasers.
