The Pakistan government on Thursday warned its military establishment of growing isolation of the country on the international forum.
During an undisclosed meeting as reported by leading Pakistan daily Dawn, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general Rizwan Akhtar and National Security Advisor Nasser Janjua would brief the ISI sector commanders of each province.
The military intelligence will be directed not to interfere in the government’s crackdown on militant groups.
Besides this, the government has clearly directed the military intelligence agencies not to interfere in anti-terrorism operations conducted by the civilian government.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also directed fresh attempts to probe the Pathankot terror attack and also restart trial in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
India’s neighbouring state is on a backfoot following the September 18 terror attacks in Jammu & Kashmir’s Uri area which left 19 Army jawans dead.
Days later, the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes on seven terror pads in the Pakistan territory across the Line of Control.
Islamabad has been vehemently denying the claims of any such operation having taken place, however, several countries have sided with India.
