Meet the smartest Indian-origin boy on Earth. He is just 13 years old

He is also the world's youngest IBM Watson programmer who in his free time writes computer programs. Bakshi has written a book and is writing his second one on IBM Watson.

While children at the age of 13 are busy playing games with friends and still have some years to think the profession they want to choose, Tanmay Bakshi, an Indian-origin boy from Brampton in Canada, is already a software content developer who also designs algorithms.

He is the world’s youngest IBM Watson programmer who writes computer programs in his free time . Bakshi has written a book and is writing his second one on IBM Watson. Currently, he is home schooled and will be going to grade 9.

His own YouTube Channel

Tanmay also has a YouTube channel with the name ‘Tanmay Teaches‘. He started the channel six years ago which has more than 144 videos and around 22,000, subscribers. Through the channel, he teaches programming, algorithms, computing, maths, science and also the technology related to IBM Watson.

“I like to share my knowledge, there is a lack of resource for people to learn about technologies, which is why I want to share my knowledge through Youtube videos, books that I am authoring, the keynotes that I have”, he said during an interview.

An IBM Watson is an intelligence engine which handles Artificial Intelligence (AI) as well as the Internet of Things (IoT). Tanmay can code in swift, VB, Java, C# among many other languages.

His entry into coding

When he was just 5 years old, he started coding. At the age of 9, he developed his first app for iPhone called tTables. The app, which faced some initial rejections, was later published on 14th February 2013.

“At 5 years old I didn’t understand the concept of a job. The computer I thought was just a toy. Coding was fun for me and something I did in break time. So, coding isn’t really work for me,” he said.

His Future Plans:

About his future plans, Tanmay says he wants to gain more experience and knowledge right now, for which he is attending more conferences and doing more projects. He is also focusing on making more videos and writing books. He also wishes his current book to be signed by Amitabh Bachchan.

His Favourite Gadgets:

Tanmay got an iMac with 5K retina display and i7 processor with an 8GB RAM which he later upgraded to 64 GB RAM. Apart from that he also has a MacBook Air, an Apple watch and an iPhone as well. His favourite gadget that he would want to own is Microsoft’s HoloLens.

His Hobbies:

He likes to play table tennis in his free time and has one in his house. Other than that, he goes on a field trips or hangout with friends around his home.
