At least 19 people have been killed and 50 injured in an explosion which is treated as a "terrorist incident", at a concert by Ariana Grande in Manchester

US pop star Ariana Grande’s concert in the Manchester city of UK took a fatal turn after at least 19 people were killed and as many as 50 of them were injured in an explosion at the end of a concert on May 23. The bomb blast is reportedly being treated as a “terrorist incident”.

“Police were called to reports of an explosion at Manchester Arena. So far 19 people have been confirmed dead with around 50 others injured. This is currently being treated as a terrorist incident until police know otherwise” PTI quoted Greater Manchester police officials as saying. In a number of videos that are doing rounds on the social media, you can see the crowd panicking and trying to get out of the chaotic scene soon after the bomb went off.

As many as 21,000 people including children had gathered in the arena to attend Ariana Grande’s concert. Witnessed who attended the US star’s concert asserted that they heard a huge explosion at the end of the concert. Following which, thousands of panic-stricken people in the arena frantically made efforts to leave the building. Some also came forward to help the injured and rush them to the hospital.

Expressing grief over the incident, Ariana Grande tweeted saying that she was “broken” and had no words to say.

On Twitter, a number of people are posting pictures of people known to them who have allegedly gone missing after the explosion. While asserting that the blast was being treated as an “appalling terrorist attack” the security officials said that they were investigating the matter and trying to find more details.
