A 10-year-old boy has become a social media celeb after he helped her mother deliver his baby brother.
Ashley Moreau, who was 34 weeks pregnant, went into an early labour but it was his son’s presence of mind that helped resolve the uncalled emergency.

Ashely, who lives at Sulphur, Louisiana, realised that she is in labour only after she went to use the bathroom on August 11 when her water broke. “My water broke and I looked down and my son’s feet were hanging out,” she said.

She quickly called her 10-year-old son Jayden for help. The young boy ran to his grandmother’s house next door and asked her to call the emergency services.

When he went back to his mother, he saw her bleeding out on the bathroom floor. Given the critical condition of her mother, Jayden knew he could not wait for the paramedics.

“When he got to the bathroom, he just took a deep breath and said, ‘OK Mom, just tell me what I need to do,’” Moreau told KPLC.

“He didn’t look scared, he looked calm and brave and I said ‘ok, I’m going to tell you what to do and we need to get your brother out as fast as possible because he’s breached and he can’t breathe.”

He pulled the baby’s legs while his mother pushed, and after a few minutes the newborn boy was out. But the baby was not breathing. So Jayden rushed to collect the nasal aspirator from the kitchen and helped his baby brother breathe. Soon an ambulance arrived and they were taken to a hospital. Now both mother and son have made a full recovery.

Moreau said that doctors believe that if Fontenot hadn’t come to the rescue, the baby wouldn’t have recovered and Moreau would have bled out.
