Force 2 movie review: John Abraham, Sonakshi Sinha's action thriller lacks force!

John Abraham is back as the rough and tough cop ACP Yashvardhan who has got bigger problems to look after.

Just when will John Abraham move out of his stern cop image? Yet another time in Force 2, the actor dons the uniform of a Mumbai Police officer. The one with a chiseled body and ‘one-expression-for-every-emotion’ face. Supporting him this time is Sonakshi Sinha, who fortunately or unfortunately is playing a RAW agent in the film. And together they hunt for mastermind Shiv who is on a mission to kill all the RAW agents.

There’s nothing much about the film to recall or to take back. But a few questions erupt in mind while watching it:

1. Are the functionality standards of RAW so low? Like our agents who fear using a pistol are asked to lead a serious mission in the country?

2. How are they actually given action training? Because here, we had a Mumbai Police officer doing all the action for us. Not too good but not bad as well.

Sonakshi Sinha Force 2 still

One doesn’t feel disappointed with John and Sonakshi because the expectations were not already a lot. But reducing Tahir Raj Bhasin to just being a cool-stylish villain backfires. However, the scenes where he rolls out his witty one-liners provide the best of the interest in the film. There’s so much of potential that this actor has already shown in Mardaani. In Force 2, the details of his character lacks strength and Tahir’s Rudra Pratap seems vulnerable. That’s strictly not a good characteristic for a villain in a Hindi film.

Not much for Sonakshi to showcase. Except that she does action. But not for once, you sit up and take notice of her. We have seen a far better action being done by Sonakshi in her last film — Akira.

Force belonged to John Abraham and his chemistry with Genelia in the film. Force 2 however does not. Neither does his action nor his chemistry with Sonakshi aka KK clicks. You would want to see more of him and Genelia in those dream sequences though that come on screen twice in the entire film.

Not a bad film but nothing that we haven’t watched earlier. It’s easy to let go off Force 2 as you would rather like to watch Force once again on your TV sets.
