YouTube launches child-friendly app YouTube Kids

Gummy Bears, Appu, Little Krishna- the party's all here!

YouTube has a sweet surprise for children across India. The popular video streaming website has launched a child-friendly app called YouTube Kids that is aimed at providing content that will ‘enrich the lives of Indian families’ and ‘create new learning opportunities for kids’.

The stand-alone family-friendly app is available for free on Google Play and App store and features videos and ‘learning content’ from India and across the globe in various languages.

The app will include new learning shows from ChuChuTV and Kids TV; new seasons of popular kids shows like Cat and Keet and Appu- The Yogic Elephant; and Gummy Bear song in Hindi.

“We’ll also be bringing in new guest-selected playlists from educators, celebrities, trusted names, and other parents in the coming weeks,” Google India wrote in a blog.

The playlist in the new app will be divided into four categories: Shows, Music, Learning and Explore.

The good news is that with YouTube Kids, parents can stop worrying about their kids watching age-inappropriate content. The new app will not allow parents to ‘restrict your child’s experience to a more limited set’ but also send alerts when the session is over and even set a passcode to access settings and other parental information in the app.

The good news is that you can watch YouTube Kids on the big screen using Chromecast, Apple TV, gaming consoles or a smart TV.

So gear up kids coz it’s fun time!
