This Man Played A Guitar As Bengaluru Doctors Operated On His Brain

Taskin Ali, the guitarist, from Dhaka, was diagnosed with Focal Hand Dystonia, a condition in which left-hand stops to function.

It’s not uncommon for surgeons to listen to music while they operate. But this?

Taskin Ali, the guitarist, from Dhaka, was diagnosed with Focal Hand Dystonia, a condition in which left-hand stops to function. He was told by doctors there was no cure for his condition.

Even when doctors told him nothing can be done, Ali didn’t lose any hope and kept on reading about it. During his research, he came across the story of another guitarist named, Abhishek Prasad, who was also suffering from the same condition but was successfully operated in Bengaluru in July 2017.

As per NDTV report, Ali saved money for 10 months and even sold one of his guitars and travelled to Bengaluru with the hope of regaining function in his left hand.

The operation was done on May 17 at Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital and the surgery involved burning a set of misbehaving and misfiring circuits about 8-10 cm deep inside his brain. However, the patient is given local anesthesia, he is also kept awake so to see if they are burning the right circuits.

One of the doctors posted a video of Ali getting operated and you can see Ali playing guitar and even typing on his mobile.

Post the surgery, a press conference was held by the hospital. Ali has been fully recovered.
