Facebook comes up with a 'disputed' tag to deal with the menace of fake news

Tired of sharing fake news articles? Worry not Facebook has taken cognisance of the situation and have launched 'disputed' tag to deal with the menace

Be it reports of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan death, or a woman defecating on her boss’ desk, every single day, tons of fake news stories circulate on Facebook. A number of people fall into the trap and start sharing it frantically without even confirming the reports.

It is hard to detect whether the concerned articles shared on the social media is authentic or fake. A lot of times the fake news creates a massive uproar in the real world.But, worry not. Facebook has taken cognisance of the issue and is coming up with a plan to combat fake news article. Presently, all you can do this is report the story as a spam or click on the reason of you not finding the piece of news as interesting. Now, Facebook is coming up with the option of reporting.

But, worry not. Facebook has taken cognisance of the issue and is coming up with a plan to combat fake news article. Facebook has now launched a “disputed” tag on to deal with the fake news reports. This particular feature will use third-party organisations like Snopes and Politifact to check whether the story is genuine or not once the reporters flag it as fake.  However, no official announcement on the way of use this feature has been made as yet.

Earlier, it was reported that Facebook was coming up with a new feature according to which, when you click on the upper right-hand corner of the concerned post, you will have an option of selecting, “It is a fake news story,” apart from the option of reporting the post as spam.

Facebook had also affirmed that the company is trying to reduce the profits that the organisations sharing the fake news are making.
