For decades (and what seemed like millennia), evil background scores, dramatic cam shakes, zoom-ins and looped sequences, constituted our understanding of a regular TV series; all thanks to Ekta Kapoor. With newer extensions like Sasural Simar Ka continuing to carry on her legacy, web series seemed like the only thing we would get to quality TV. But having grown up watching Kapoor’s shows, perhaps Indian audiences somewhere identify with them.
So when Netflix released Sacred Games, a critically acclaimed series directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, Kapoor ka jaadu was lacking. Recently, a Twitter user made a parody of Sacred Games, reworking it in Kapoor’s image, and the video went crazy viral.
