Here's how Apple iPhone X sales will help fill Samsung's pockets

Apple on September 12, 2017, unveiled its 10th-anniversary edition iPhone– iPhone X at Apple Park in Santa Clara Valley in the US. While the Cupertino-based tech giant is excited to see how Apple loyalists and people around the world respond to iPhone X, which will go on sale globally on November 3, 2017, Apple is not the only company excited about the sales of the device. In fact, folks at Apple’s biggest rival Samsung will also be praying for the success of the device.

Reason? Samsung could earn up to $4 billion from iPhone X sales.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, which is based on a research conducted by Counterpoint Technology Market Research, Samsung will make $110 (Rs 7,200 approx) on each iPhone X sold through the summer of 2019. The research firm estimates that Apple could end up selling nearly 130 million units of iPhone X during this period, bringing greater revenue for Samsung as well.

In fact, KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo had revealed that Apple was paying between $120 (Rs 7,800 approx) and $120 (Rs 8,500 approx) to Samsung for the parts that the Korean electronics giant was manufacturing for the company.

For those of you who are confused about the connection between Apple’s iPhone X and Samsung, here’s a short explainer: Samsung is the only electronics manufacturer that can make OLED displays, DRAM chips, and NAND flash that Apple requires for its iPhones. To put it simply, until Apple sets up its own OLED display manufacturing unit, it relies on Samsung to do the needful.
