AB de Villiers announced his retirement on May 23 and shocked the world. The news was hard to digest for fans all around the world. His retirement was the top trend on Twitter, current and former cricketers expressed their emotions on De Villiers retirement on their respective social media accounts. As fans it took time for us to accept the news that De Villiers has retired but Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate and skipper took a lot of time to express himself after his ‘brother’s’ retirement.
Everyone was waiting for Kohli’s reaction to the shocking decision, here’s what Kohli tweeted on May 26 –
Wish you all the best in everything that you do my brother. You’ve changed the way batting was seen in the time you’ve played international cricket. My best wishes to you and your family for this amazing journey ahead @ABdeVilliers17 pic.twitter.com/uxtRAPl3zA

The duo carried RCB on their back during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. They missed out on the playoffs spot by a narrow margin. But Kohli-ABD were the top-scorers for the team in the season.
Kohli scored 530 runs from 14 games at an average of 48.18 including four half-centuries. On the other hand, De Villiers scored 480 runs from 12 games at an average of 53.33 including six half-centuries. The Proteas batsman scored a half-century in the must-win game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which went in vain.
He missed out on two matches otherwise it was a probability that he would have scored more than Kohli. There is a big question whether he will continue to play for RCB in the next season of IPL or not.
