It was a memorable week for PV Sindhu and what a way to round it off, with a win over old foe Nozomi Okuhara in a three-set match. Lon rallies, drop shots ruled the roost as PV Sindhu finally came trumps avenging her defeat of the World Badminton final. Nozomi was in no mood to give it up the match lasted 1 hr 23 minutes before Sindhu won 22/20, 11/21 & 21/18. This is the first time an Indian woman has won the Korean Open, it is a big moment for Indian sports. Finally, silver eludes Sindhu as she wins a gold, finally. Her victory has set Twitter on fire with congratulatory tweets. Her fans are ecstatic over her win. With this victory, Sindhu and Okuhara have a head-to-head of 4-4.
Going into the match Sindhu was higher ranked but at the back of her mind, last months defeat would have been hovering. But she made her opponent work end to end in the court. Sindhu looked tired in the last set but came through with her belief. Nozomi, on the other hand, raised her game at the fag end and hence Sindhu coming through was even sweeter.
Off late we also heard news that PV Sindhu has been showing interest in producing films, she has already produced a film on her coach Pullela Gopichand.
